Leadership Advisory
Leadership Advisory
Beyond the search — building the leadership capacity your organization needs next.
Not every leadership question is a search question. Some are about the shape of the team, the readiness of the bench, or the design of the org itself. That is where advisory work begins. Delivered through Anker Bioss, grounded in the BIOSS tradition of institutional, organizational, and individual capability.

Guided practice — The Kohmes Method
For leaders stepping into materially larger complexity, individual-layer engagements use The Kohmes Method — the guidance methodology that walks alongside a leader while new capability becomes their own. Three stances (Coach, Mentor, Advocate) held in one trusted relationship, over six to twelve months, anchored in the leader’s real work.
The Kohmes Method is the intellectual property of Jose J. Ruiz and Elavant. Anker Bioss uses it under a non-exclusive license and is authorized to train internal Kohmes for clients.

Leadership advisory — frequently asked questions
- What is leadership advisory?
- Leadership advisory is the organization-and-people work that surrounds an executive placement — succession planning, competency modeling, team assessment, board composition, and organization design. It's delivered through Anker Bioss and grounded in the BIOSS tradition of institutional, organizational, and individual capability. It answers the questions a search alone cannot: is the team the right shape, is the bench ready, is the seat itself designed for the work.
- How is leadership advisory different from executive search?
- Executive search fills a seat. Leadership advisory designs the seat, the team around it, and the succession behind it. Search is transactional and closes with a placement; advisory is diagnostic and closes with a decision or a program. Many engagements use both — advisory before the search to define what the seat truly requires, and after the placement for integration and team calibration.
- What types of leadership advisory engagements do you handle?
- Succession planning for CEO, C-suite, and board; competency modeling using the DOES Leadership Competency Model; leadership-team assessment using Hogan (HPI/HDS/MVPI) and BIOSS Career Path Appreciation; board advisory and governance reviews; onboarding and first-100-days integration design; organization design and design of work; and executive coaching for placed leaders.
- Who delivers your leadership advisory work?
- Anker Bioss delivers the advisory work, with Jose leading engagements directly. Anker Bioss is the independent advisory firm co-founded by Jose Ruiz that aligns strategy with the design of work, leadership judgment, and individual capability — grounded in the BIOSS tradition through partnerships in London and Latin America.
- What frameworks and instruments do you use?
- The Anker Bioss Framework of institutional, organizational, and individual capability layers; the DOES Leadership Competency Model; BIOSS Career Path Appreciation for judgment-level assessment; Hogan HPI/HDS/MVPI for personality and derailers; and Luks Prisma for organizational alignment. Every assessment is calibrated to the client's strategy — not a generic benchmark.
- How long does a typical advisory engagement take?
- Succession planning: 8–16 weeks. Competency modeling: 6–10 weeks. Team assessment: 4–8 weeks. Board reviews: 6–12 weeks. Integration and onboarding programs: 12–16 weeks. All engagements are fixed-scope with defined deliverables and milestones.
- Do you work with private equity portfolio companies?
- Yes. PE portfolio work is a major part of the advisory practice — diligence support, first-100-days design, management team assessment during hold, succession planning ahead of exit, and board composition. Both pre-close (diligence) and post-close (value creation) engagements are available.
- Can advisory work be conducted in Spanish?
- Yes. All advisory engagements are fully bilingual. Assessment instruments, interviews, and deliverables are available in English and Spanish, and the practice is bicultural across US, Mexico, and UK contexts.
